Romero Architects, Inc strives to provide services in architecture and urban design that at once unique and contextual. The future of real estate development is in active, urban environments which feature mixed uses, walkability and access to transit. Dense, sustainable development that contains unique and appropriate architecture is the goal of every Romero Architects project.

While the green building movement is a great start towards more sustainability, we believe what is more relevant is promoting urbanism that is sustainable. Our goal is to create great buildings that shape great urban spaces.

In 2006, Michael J. Romero was asked by Aaron M. Cook to start a firm together that could serve as a source for traditional architecture and urban planning in Chicago. While together as Romero Cook Design Studio, Aaron and Michael worked on a variety of projects including a large-scale mixed use project, a master plan competition and several single family homes and additions.

Michael J. Romero graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. Upon graduation, Michael joined the prestigious office of Merrill & Pastor Architects, in Vero Beach, FL. While there, he gained tremendous experience in architectural design and project management for large custom homes as well as public buildings. Through his experience at Merril Pastor, Michael cultivated a true sense of how buildings are constructed, and developed skills in interacting with clients, consultants, and contractors.

After Merrill Pastor, and prior to starting on his own, Michael worked at Sullivan Goulette Architects, in Chicago, where he worked on projects with several different building types, from urban single family residences to larger multi-family and mixed-use buildings.

Michael serves as a consultant to other architects and planners, offering a service that we provide for our own clients.

Michael is licensed as an architect in Illinois and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
